A 'vaidya' treats Gangadhar. Raghunath tells Gangadhar that the 'shagun' won't reach Bithur on time because of Captain Fraser. Vahini notices that the thread is missing from Manu's hand. So, Manu searches for it and ties it again. Colonel Spears and Fraser accuse Manu of illegal activities. But Gangadhar takes a stand and supports Manu's actions. He commands Tatya Dixit to take the 'shagun' to Bithur immediately. Janki Bai tells Gangadhar that it doesn't suit him to marry a commoner's daughter.
