To Gangadhar's horror, Laxmi Bai asks for the garlands. Moropant refuses to do the 'kanyadaan'. Amidst the sombre atmosphere, Laxmi Bai volunteers to perform the 'kanyadaan' and ties the knot for Gangadhar and Ganga. Gangadhar and Ganga's marriage rituals begin, and Laxmi Bai feels unwell. She quietly slips out of the palace to find the chief doctor. To her surprise, she finds him with a British officer and stops him. Upon questioning, he gives her the news of her pregnancy.
