Set in 1930s Brno, a young woman in a mixed Czech-German family clashes with her father as Nazi ideology takes hold, yet they share a love of music. During the occupation she joins the student resistance, but the war and its aftermath upend her life, forcing her into brutal expulsion and a struggle to rebuild in postwar years.
