After Germany’s surrender, a group of young prisoners is sent to Denmark’s west coast and forced to clear buried landmines by hand. Under a hostile sergeant’s command, the boys face exhausting work, constant danger, and an uneasy struggle between punishment, responsibility, and compassion.
