In 1974, a successful artist looks back on a summer that began when a troubled young aspiring painter formed a tentative friendship with an elderly, alcoholic master who had given up on both art and life. Rekindled by their time together, the master finds hope again while the student learns to see the world through the mentor’s eyes.
