In 1980s Nottingham, a social worker uncovers a heartbreaking scandal involving children forcibly sent from the UK to Australia and other Commonwealth countries. With permission from her superiors, she works to reunite families and push authorities to answer for an extraordinary miscarriage of justice that affected more than 130,000 children.
