In 1989, five Black and Latino teenagers from Harlem were arrested and later convicted of a rape in New York City’s Central Park. After spending between 6 and 13 years in prison, their convictions were overturned following a confession from the true perpetrator, exposing a case shaped by fear, media frenzy, and racial tension.
