In a 1920s Los Angeles hospital, an injured stuntman befriends a young patient and begins spinning an epic tale of five larger-than-life heroes. As his fragile mindset and her vivid imagination feed the story, the fantasy starts to echo their real lives and the line between make-believe and reality grows increasingly thin.
