Scientists try to raise a sunken Russian nuclear submarine from the sea and discover an ancient Atlantean relic. The effort unleashes radioactive trouble that brings Atlantis back, wiping out their platform and leaving a small group to fight violent raiders and survive long enough to push Atlantis back down.
