In 1923 Berlin, an unemployed American acrobat reels after his brother’s suicide and turns to his sister-in-law for support. As poverty, alcoholism, depression, and social unrest deepen, he becomes entangled in disturbing deaths and a sinister investigation reflecting Germany’s growing decay.
