After a wagon train is attacked, a hired guard tries to negotiate peace but returns to find the settlers dead and himself blamed for desertion. Hunted by an angry town and a determined sheriff, he goes on the run with an unlikely horse companion, determined to clear his name and uncover who set the tragedy in motion.
