A post office manager from northern Italy desperately wants a transfer to Milan, but a failed scheme sends him instead to a small town in the south. Expecting a nightmare, he encounters unfamiliar customs and colorful locals, gradually confronting his own prejudices through a series of comic misunderstandings.
