In rural New Zealand in 1984, an imaginative 11-year-old and devoted pop-culture fan is thrilled when his long-absent father suddenly returns. As the visit unfolds, the child tries to hold onto his hero worship while sensing the adult’s real motives, forcing him to grow up faster than he expected.
