A gold-seeking party headed into Colorado Territory gets lost and starving, turning their misfortune into musical inspiration. Along the way, they run into strange obstacles—an intimidating Confederate cyclops, surly trappers, a Japanese-speaking “tribe,” and eventually tensions within the group.
