In the late Ming Dynasty, a rare creature arrives as a diplomatic gift, and an imperial agent is ordered to tame it for war. As he learns the animal is gentler than it looks, he risks everything to protect it and flee a dangerous political situation with someone caught in the fallout of injustice.
