In late-1950s London, an eccentric circle of older friends in the literary set is rattled by anonymous phone calls that deliver the same chilling message: “Remember you must die.” As nerves fray, old rivalries and private agendas surface, and a retired inspector is drawn in to trace the caller through a web of gossip, wills, and uneasy secrets.
