There are several glaring issues with Bicentennial Man. The easiest fix is that the robot looks stupid. Another is that the second half of this movie is pretty boring and tedious. I’m not sure the creative team has enough of a “take” in this material, which at times plays like ‘what if Mrs. Doubtfire was a robot?’ It’s a straightforward family dramedy that doesn’t hold a candle to other robotic fairytales like Spielberg’s AI. But there are seeds of a good story here; the time jumps are manipulative but effective. 🤖🤖 / 🤖🤖🤖🤖🤖.
