Master Gardener shares a lot of DNA with his previous two films, First Reformed and The Card Counter, supposedly a trilogy of journaling men in crisis. Master Gardener has a lot going for it; beautiful cinematography strolling around gorgeous gardens, a great synth score and pretty good performances, particularly Edgerton. But there’s a bit of “here we go again” if you have seen his previous works and I’m not sure I ever fully bought the romance at the center of this story. 🧑🌾🧑🌾🧑🌾 / 🧑🌾🧑🌾🧑🌾🧑🌾🧑🌾.
