I have very little recollection of watching Babe as a young babe myself, but I know I did. And I approve! This feels like a movie for all ages rather than for kids. Most impressive about this movie are the effects and production design. There’s a great blend of animatronics and trained animals to bring the farm to life, and the set they built in Australia has a fairy tale like quality to make this story feel out of time and place. The story is pretty good, but it’s through line is pretty thin, which would challenge the attention span of young viewers I suspect. It’s almost a series of vignettes. Not sure what it is about talking ducks and rat puppets, but I always find this to be comedy gold. 🐖🐖🐖🐖 / 🐖🐖🐖🐖🐖.
