The Mandalorian and Gorgu is a fun enough space adventure. The highlight by far is Phil Tippetts stop motion work, and as a fan of the Clone Wars / Rebels series, it’s fun to see some of those characters brought to live action. But it’s odd for a Star Wars entry to feel so weightless. The stakes are small, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it feels at odds with the “space opera” of it all. The color grading is noticeably flat, but the most jarring element for me was the decision for Rotta the Hutt to just speak plain English (“Basic” is was the nerds call it I believe). 💫💫💫 / 💫💫💫💫💫.
