‘Is this too miserable of a story to tell?’ is a question posed by a character in the series finale of The Handmaid’s Tale. The response to the loaded question seems to be a defensive answer to fatigued viewers of the series, which often deals with some pretty unpalatable actions, exacerbated by its slow and deliberate pacing. I guess ultimately it is a series worth watching. Elizabeth Moss is one of the best actors working today and Ann Dowd delivers, providing the most interesting character in Aunt Lydia. But there’s no doubt the series overstays its welcome, making its point in its first and strongest season. Most everything after that is an ever swinging pendulum of whether or not June has the upper hand. 💃💃💃.5 / 💃💃💃💃💃.

Ryan Schreiber (Founder) · May 2590In prep for the series finale, re watched the 1st episode last night. Would encourage anyone still watching to do it…it is a chilling reminder of how it all started and brings light to the various character developments that have taken place over a decade. I also wasn’t a parent when I first watched so it cuts even deeper now if that’s even possible… and makes me want to see this end the right way on Tuesday so badly. Assuming tissues will be required regardless…
