Inspired by true events, an adult looks back on a formative summer in the mid-1990s, when two brothers tried to cope with a violent home life. As they fall in with a tight group of neighborhood kids, everyday adventures and new friendships offer brief escape—while a desperate plan to stop the abuse hangs over everything.
