A distant, guarded man leaves his isolated Alpine life when his failing health forces him to seek a heart transplant. As he travels across borders and unfamiliar places, he also tries to reconnect with an estranged child, confronting loneliness, guilt, and the uneasy feeling of being an outsider wherever he goes.
