On a remote Lancashire farm, three children discover an injured fugitive hiding in their barn. Misunderstanding his words and guided by their religious upbringing, they believe he is a miraculous holy figure and secretly protect him, while the adults and police bring the wider world closer to their secluded world of faith and innocence.
